What is the difference between the Complete Qāʿidah and the Abridged Qāʿidah?

Although the Abridged Qāʿidah is a shorter version of the Complete Qāʿidah, it still has the same number of levels as the Complete Qāʿidah. No corners have been cut in the number of concepts covered. There are two key differences which make the two Qāʿidah different to each other.

First of all, the Complete Qāʿidah has larger pages with empty space around the edges of the page for writing notes, as well as a dedicated diary section at the bottom of every page. There is also a page listing targets at the beginning of each level and English explanations for certain concepts where deemed beneficial. There are none of the above in the Abridged Qāʿidah which has smaller pages entirely covered in Arabic examples and there are no extra pages with target checklists or explanations.

The second key difference is that the Abridged Qāʿidah has slightly a less number of examples in some chapters. For example, in Level 5: Ḥarakahs, the complete Qāʿidah has 36 examples after each new Ḥarakah is introduced, whereas the Abridged Qāʿidah has 30 examples. That is approximately a 15% reduction in examples. This does not make the Abridged Qāʿidah incomplete, as a student can still grasp and master the targets with the number of examples included in it. The Complete Qāʿidah gives more time to practice and further reinforce the concept for those who wish to take more time and be more thorough.

The Abridged Qaidah is more similar to the style of traditional Qāʿidahs like the Noorani Qāʿidah and Ahsanul Qawaid, but with the added advantages of a the Safar Qāʿidah such as the comprehensive and logical level structure and the fact that all the examples are extracted only from the Qurān. The Complete Qāʿidah, on the other hand, is a more drastic evolution which includes all the elements that are suitable for the modern learning environment.
