Will the content be enough for my lessons?

Too much or too little content?

Our publications can be used to meet the needs of a variety of session times – whether in a weekend or weekday setting. For Islamic studies, the content in each chapter can be tailored (with prior planning) to fit a single 45-minute Islamic studies lesson or it can extend to a 90 or 120-minute lessons, whether this is one single lesson or multiple lessons.

The more time you have, the more you can spend on activities as well as exploring related content, doing project work or spending longer on a chapter. This is how you extend the content in a lesson, as well as of course, using the workbooks (or parts of the workbook) during lessons; this means that the textbook and workbook can both be used to suit longer teaching sessions.

For shorter lessons, there may be more information then you need in a single chapter. Again, it is up you to plan what you think needs to be covered from a chapter in a lesson (read on to see how the Teacher's Guide will help you do this). The additional information can be skipped, set as homework or used for additional activities for advanced learners in your class.

Helping you plan

To help you plan your lessons, each of our textbook comes with a  Teacher's Guide (Schemes of Work). The Teacher's Guide sets the lesson objectives and outcomes for each chapter as well as providing you with activity ideas of various lengths. The lesson objectives and outcomes are basically the key bits of information you should to cover in a lesson, irrespective of the time you have; this can be done in 15 minutes, delivered over an hour or multiple sessions; the more time you spend on each objective, the more thorough the learning will be.

The contents page on each textbook gives you suggested teaching weeks for each chapter, which will help you complete the a textbook in a single academic year:

Resources to use when teaching

The  Safar Teacher's Toolbox has great resources to use when teaching the curriculum and are perfect for short and snappy lessons as well as lessons where you have more time and thus more scope for more activities.
