What school of Islamic law (fiqh) is the content based on and are the books reliable?
The Safar Islamic Studies series covers five core areas of Islamic education: ʿaqīdah, fiqh, history, sīrah and personal development.
Fiqh
The fiqh content across all Safar Islamic Studies publications is currently written according to the Ḥanafī school of law. However, fiqh forms only one part of each textbook. The remaining content, covering beliefs, history, the life of the Prophet and personal development, is universally applicable regardless of madhab.
In practice, Safar's books are used successfully by students and institutions from a wide range of backgrounds and schools of fiqh, including Shāfiʿī, Mālikī and Ḥanbalī communities. We would always encourage educators to review the fiqh sections of any book and consider how best to contextualise them for their particular community's needs.
We are also pleased to share that a Shāfiʿī oriented syllabus is currently in development, insha'Allah. If you would like to be kept informed of updates, please get in touch.
Reliability of sources
All content is based exclusively on authentic sources from the works of the Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jamāʿah, with references included throughout the text. The syllabus has been carefully written to avoid areas of complexity and wide scholarly debate, making it an accessible and trustworthy resource for students of all backgrounds.
The curriculum was originally developed at Safar Academy and has been refined over more than 20 years. Since Safar Publications became an independent entity in 2012, the books have gone on to be used by thousands of institutions and families across the world, representing a wide range of communities and traditions.
