What should I teach after Textbook 6?

After completing Textbook 6, move to Textbook 7, the first book in the Safar secondary syllabus. Textbook 7 and its accompanying Workbook 7 are available now from safarpublications.org. Textbook 8 and Workbook 8 follow after that. Each textbook is taught over two academic years, making the full secondary series a four-year programme.

What does the secondary syllabus cover?

The secondary series is written for ages 11 and above and goes well beyond knowledge transmission. Both books are designed as life guides, helping young Muslims navigate faith, identity and modern life with confidence. Key areas covered across the series include:

  • Essential knowledge, beliefs (ʿaqīdah) and fiqh
  • Qur'anic teachings and sīrah
  • Islamic history including a fold-out timeline (Textbook 8)
  • Contemporary issues including technology, modernity and social ethics
  • Adolescence, personal health, money and life skills
  • Spiritual and moral development (tazkiyah)
  • Step-by-step guidance for Ṣalāh, Hajj and Umrah
  • Muslim contributions to civilisation and Islam and science
  • Vocabulary and keyword lists to build Arabic and English literacy

The books are printed in full colour with bespoke illustrations and infographics throughout. They are widely used by adult learners and halaqah groups as well as in formal classroom settings. The national curriculum has been consulted throughout, with natural overlap with RE, SRE and humanities subjects.

Who are the books suitable for?

Textbook 7 is for ages 11 and above. Textbook 8 is for ages 13 and above. Both books work equally well in institutes, home settings, youth clubs and informal study groups, they are not written exclusively for a classroom audience. Parents and homeschoolers will find the content accessible and self-explanatory without needing a teaching background.

What support is available for teachers and educators?
